Catherine Phang is an active composer and artistic collaborator.
She is acting as a co-founder and Executive Administrator for Sforzando Composers Collective, the organization formed in 2017 based in New York City. She has been producing four multi-disciplinary concerts at galleries and concert venues around the city, collaborating with Dancers, Visual artists, and ensembles.
Catherine has written for various combination of chamber orchestra, chamber ensemble, choir and also electro-acoustic music.
Catherine completed her Bachelor’s degree in Music Composition at University of Hartford—the Hartt School in West Hartford, Connecticut where she studied composition with Larry Alan Smith and Ken Steen (Electronic Music), and piano with David Westfall, Paul Rutman and Susan Cheng. She also holds her Master's degree in Classical Music Composition from Manhattan School of Music where she studied with Richard Danielpour.
